Bio

Hi, my name is Richard Salino. I’m a freelance producer, mixer, and engineer living in Philadelphia. I love all things audio and have been fortunate to make records spanning multiple continents and myriad genres.

A drummer since childhood, I got my start in recording back in the early 2000s when the band I was in needed some demos to book shows. After working out of a spare bedroom for a while, I opened my first studio in South Florida in 2006. I moved to Athens, GA in 2011 where I worked out of Studio 1093 and Chase Park Transduction. In 2014, I moved to New York to work at Studio G Brooklyn. I moved to Philly in 2023 where you can find me twisting knobs with coffee in hand and cat on lap.

For the last few years, I have done most of my mixing at my own private studio. Having my own space affords me consistency both in my listening environment and my tools, streamlines my workflow, and helps me keep my rates affordable.

For recording, I find the inconsistency of working in different studios to be a positive, allowing the opportunity to capture unique environments with interesting equipment. There are many great rooms near me in Philly, and I still spend a lot of time tracking at Studio G where the familiarity built over a decade means I can make decisions quickly and intuitively. I will travel and work anywhere that fits the aesthetic and budget of a project.

In addition to my studio work, I have extensive experience as a live sound engineer. While living in NYC, I was a house engineer at Bowery Ballroom, Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn Bowl, and Rough Trade. I have toured as a front of house engineer with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Sertab Erener, Psychic TV, and Soul Coughing.

As a drummer, I have played with Traded to Racine, Fake Flowers, LAPêCHE, and Ov Stars. I currently play in Wreckwave with Tony Maimone and Ross Colombo.

Shoot me an email via my contact form and let’s grab a coffee.
